Mentoring and coaching at TFM

Soft Tissue Therapist

We are looking for an open-minded Soft Tissue Therapist, who is willing to work within a unique context.

An excellent opportunity exists for a massage therapist to join a successful Manual Therapy practice in Camberwell, Melbourne. We have reached a point where another practitioner is required to contribute to the growing demand in a unique manual therapy context –  providing posture corrective manual integration therapies.

The successful applicant will work directly with the owner, Nicholas Barbousas (over 22 years direct Soft Tissue Therapy experience) who will provide an ‘on the job’ mentoring program to develop skills (TFM Approach to manual therapy) and processes (client interaction, treatment planning) that will set up a strong foundation for a career in manual therapy.

Selection Criteria

  1. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills;
  2. Demonstrate through initiatives that you have a beginners mind;
  3. Demonstrate a commitment and care to the therapeutic process;
  4. Appropriate qualifications – Diploma in Remedial Massage;
  5. Evidence of Professional Indemnity Insurance;
  6. Hold a current Senior First Aid certificate;
  7. Hold an ABN;
  8. Registered with a professional association;
  9. Online submission form at bottom of page.

 Application Process

  1. Please submit a cover letter briefly discussing points 1-3 of the selection criteria above;
  2. Please include a CV – maximum 5 pages.
  3. Online submission form at bottom of page.

The successful applicant will develop skills to:

  • Design and implement treatments based on TFM Approaches;
  • Use direct Myofascial Release techniques as used within TFM;
  • Use TFM strategies and treatment plans emphasising posture and performance goals;
  • Provide 60 minute treatments;
  • Recognise the importance of human movement habits as a way of uncovering and developing improved posture and movement strategies.
  • Be willing to work with a broad base of the community – while most clients come with a strong exercise ethic they can range from elite athletes to retirees.
  • Must be customer service orientated – strong communication skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Online submission form at bottom of page.

While the successful applicant will not be required to work as a Structural Integration (SI) practitioner, it will be expected that the ongoing training will allow posture improvement strategies to be directly incorporated into their treatments.

About Techniques For Movement

Techniques For Movement is the Melbourne based practice of Nicholas Barbousas. Nicholas is a manual therapist and Advanced Rolfer with more than 22 years of direct experience in Soft Tissue Therapies. He specialises in Structural Integration (Rolfing), Muscular Therapy, and Myofascial Release. His experience as a manual therapist forms a practice that expands into physical, rehabilitation and movement therapies.

Techniques For Movement has evolved over many years into a unique centre of excellence. The foundation of our work is based on a strong realisation that the client is as much a part of the healing process as the practitioner.

TFM clients come from across a broad demographic, and are directly aware that protocols and strategies employed are designed to improve posture and function.

This is an ongoing position with the therapist employed as a sub contractor, with the practitioner requiring an ABN.
